Un tribunal de Wisconsin, en el Norte de Estados Unidos, ha impuesto una multa de 1.000 dólares al cura Ralph Ovadal por su comportamiento insultante hacia los nudistas. El fallo se produjo con motivo de las coacciones en el año 2001 hacia una mujer en un aparcamiento próximo a la plana nudista de Mazomanie, en donde el religioso protestaba contra el desnudo con carteles con versos de la Biblia. El juez considera que el cura de la Iglesia de Cristo Rey, que protesta desde 1998 contra el nudismo, ha superado el límite que separa la libertad de expresión y la intimidación.

El 12 de julio de 2001, el alcalde de la localidad vizcaína de Getxo, Iñaki Zarraoa, amparándose en reglamento de 1955, aprobó un decreto por el cual, a partir de esa fecha, quedaba prohibida la práctica del nudismo en todas las playas de la localidad, con excepción de "la Salvaje", bajo amenaza de la imposición de una multa "coercitiva" de hasta 25.000 ptas.

Some AANR clubs, as a matter of policy, limit the single men they allow as members or visitors in proportion to the number of single women. For the most part, we use this policy of gender balancing because we anticipate that "too many" single men might change the character of family clubs or be overwhelming to the "too few" single women who join. Such policies attempt to be fair, gender-neutral and effective. But the result is not. Too many men are being tipped off the scales unjustly. Too many women are still reluctant to join.

All over the world, there are laws prohibiting wearing no clothing, or requiring how much clothing is to be worn. These laws are laws against the freedom to wear what you want, and restrict the openness that a nudist society would bring. These laws are generally indecent exposure laws with good intentions, such as protecting children from those who would abuse them. The legislators here assume that seeing nudity will harm people, although it has been shown that in a non-sexual context, nudity is not harmful.

Aún en 1984 el Estado español se atrevía a ratificar la condena contra una mujer, la única de un grupo de cincuenta nudistas que se negó a vestirse cuando se lo requirieron las fuerzas del orden público en una playa del norte de España.
